The hum and haw of the typical coming and going of the Shame Corner bustled within its walls. Yet, in the refresher a tense conversation was itching and building to be had. Lektra Kendis had positioned herself in the middle of the room, arms crossed and glaring. Meanwhile, her friend and once roommate, Luka Zarkot was locked eyes with their partner or whom they knew as such, recent questions welling on their tongue in a whelming quantity. The Kiffar in question, broke the gaze in order to turn and raise an eyebrow at Maxim, waiting to see if he would stay or go as asked.
The door opened.
All heads turned to look at the middle aged twi'lek man that entered. He stopped and slow-panned registered the group. Yeo pinched his nose briefly before returning his hands to his hips.
“Use the ladies room!” he commanded with a leer, sending the stranger pivoting and hurrying back out with an uttering of ‘didn’t mean to intrude, sorry.’
The silence that followed the shutting doors was broken by a (loud for the situation) slurp of black caf. Maxim had an eyebrow raised towards the two people that had interrupted his goodbyes. Now though, he didn’t exactly want to follow through.
He lowered the mug from his face, which had been quite well warmed from the steam rising from the dark liquid surface. With it, he gestured to Lektra with his silvery eyes narrowed. “Maybe we both take a step outside, let these two.. talk. It is the boys room after all. I think they could use some privacy” the Arkanian took a slow step towards the door, torso turning to face the duo as he sidestepped past them.
The young Kendis eyed the Arkanian head to toe, assessing how much of a threat he may be. Given all the evidence provided by Luka there was no way she was going to let them interact with Yeo alone.
“I think that’s a good idea, feel free to see yourself out.”
Luka’s gaze shifted from Lektra to Maxim, then to Yeoni. They were glad that their friend was sticking with them. Though this was certainly a conversation they had planned to have in private with Yeoni and preferably on their ship, it was good to not feel completely alone in this situation.
Though Luka stepped out of the way of Maxim to allow him to leave, they still looked to him with a narrowed eye. They didn’t quite trust the man, despite Yeoni’s claiming he didn’t know him. Who was he?
A question for a later time, perhaps. They noted his appearance for further review, should he come across something interesting in their files.
“Guess that’s that,” they said. “Don’t think you’ll change her mind, there.” Their lip twitched briefly in a half-smile.
Maxim’s lips tightened. He glanced backwards towards Yeoni, a stern expression on his face. The Arkanian clenched his hand into a fist, then relaxed it to hand neutrally. Without speaking, or even looking at the two newcomers, he stepped out of the room. The sound of cafe being sipped fading as the door shut behind him.
With the sound of the door clicking shut once again, Yeoni looked back to the two remaining. His dark brown gaze wavered unblinking on Lektra for a few seconds. Part of him found her presence rather bothersome, yet at the same time he didn’t care. He took a moment to bend down and grab the dropped bacta canister. He stepped back, set the canister down on the counter behind him before leaning back and resting his hands on the ledge.
“So,” his sharp gaze hidden not behind his usual glasses he wore, flit to the Firrerreo then to meet Luka’s eyes. His voice low and velvet, “we need to talk.”
“What do you want to know?”
“I swear on my mother’s soul, I’m going to kill him one of these days.”
Jacean Ryddus uttered under his breath as he shouldered into the Shame Corner, nodding to a couple who had held the door open for him. He paused to the side to get his bearings of the layout, easily assuming the role of a first timer assaulted by the expanse of the store and its wares. Because he was, and it was jarring. The Human perused around through the store in a barely covered prowl. He picked up a few things, pretending to examine them with a sideways glance at passing groups before moving on.
The bar? Clear.
The restaurant? Negative.
The store? Not a peep of his wayward charge.
There were several other buildings and a myriad of ships outside he could check. He was a thorough man though, and his hunch was Yeoni wouldn’t leave here. He had an annoying reason not to. So when Jacean’s steel eyes locked on the sign to the freshers, he ran a hand through his grey hair and made his way to them. On his approach, the scoundrel spotted another man exit the fresher.
“Hey, excuse me,” Ryddus gave him a nod and moved for the door behind the stranger.
