Weyr’s Health Clinic
Seen on the sign outside with a medical symbol
“Where kindness and compassion go hand in hand with your care. If there is healing needed, come stop on by.”
Stepping inside, is a small waiting room with large comfortable chairs, a small bench and a holo screen for viewing shows. The remote to the holo tv is sitting on a small ornate coffee table and to the right, under the tv is a small rack with different datapad links for viewing. There if you walk up to the desk is what looks to be the secretary. She is a medium height, thin black haired Epicanthix with red lipstick and a grey blazer with grey slacks while sitting at a computer. She smiles warmly. “Hello and welcome to Weyr’s Mobile Health Clinic, please come up to the desk and take a ticket number. We will call you up.”
Two Umbaran’s who shared very similar characteristics entered. The taller- older looking of the two, leaned over and his arm wrapped around the shorter. The shorter, red faced, carried some of the weight of the taller brother.
The older brother was paler than usual, and slightly sweaty. His left eye was covered with a cut piece of fabric— a makeshift eyepatch. He wore dark armor, scratched and stained with blood.
Every move was a challenge. One that he was rather annoyed by how heavy and out of his element he felt.
“Dom— I told you I’m fine.” The visibly hurt older brother said.
The younger brother took a big breath, fighting off the exhaustion taking a toll.
“V, I had to administer an antidote less than an hour ago, you can hardly walk, and dunno if you’ve noticed, but you’re missing a karking eye!”
Vigo’s features just remained neutral. He wasn’t getting out of this. Dominik was right. Dominik carefully shimmied his way out of the grasp of his older brother, plopping Vigo into waiting room chair.
“I’ll go grab a ticket.” He mumbled to Vigo. He turned and made his way to the counter, and grabbed a ticket.
Keytara had immediately taken the outer description of the two Umbarans as they had walked in. As Dominik grabbed a ticket, she went to the back to notify Weyr. “Weyr, get yourself ready.” Then she grabbed a wheelchair, a blanket, and a bottle of water, heading out to the waiting room. She moved the wheelchair beside Vigo. Turning to Dominik, she gave him a soft, caring smile. “You did the right thing bringing him here, and I am very proud of you; I am Keytara, the secretary and head nurse here. We will get you both healed up and taken care of. Take a seat here, have some water, and rest a little. After I take him to the axial image resonator room, I can take you back to him.” She then handed the tired umbaran the water and the blanket. “Now…”She turned to the obviously hurt and more stubborn of the two. “You need to sit in the wheelchair and let me take you to the axial image resonator room where we can get you fully diagnosed. Will you allow me to assist you?“
Dominik’s eyes brightened as he graciously took the water and blanket before making himself comfortable in one of the waitroom chairs… Vigo on the other hand–
“I don’t need a wheelchair. I can walk.” His words were heavily laced with the accent, rolling the R’s, of which came out more when he was angry or frustrated. He was feeling better that the antidote begun to kick in.
“Just look at my eye, clean it out, and we will be on our way.” He said begrudgingly, as he fisted his hands, and pushed down in the seat, helping him stand, purposely avoiding the wheelchair. His limbs still felt like weights, and a tingling sensation was present, but they felt closer to normal than they had been.
“You are a stubborn one that’s for sure. Hate to see what you did to the other poor souls. Now that antidote is working, yes it will help, but I am still gonna have you looked over to make sure that the poison is released fully from your system. ” She replied her eyes narrowing slightly. She had seen it before, antidote helped, but didnt completely cure and then left a lingering mild paralysis. She wasn’t gonna just let that happen. A little more stern mothering look graced her face this time
“We will get you looked at and fixed up proper. I’ve seen a fair few lose some movement from being so adamant, but if you want to walk so be it follow me then.” Keytara would keep her eye on him just in case he fell.
His icy gaze said nothing, he was filled with quiet determination. He adjusted his weight, offering more to his legs than his arms. He stood, albiet wobbly. The peripherals of his vision blurred. His tibialis shook with tremors, his quads were on fire, and the karking tingles did not help. He was pathetic, even a baby learning to walk seemed more steady than him.
The muscle shaking became less and less frequent. Now was as good of time as any, he lifted his leg, and the one that bore all the weight started shaking worse than before. Quickly, he put the other foot down taking a minuscule step, but his foot didn’t quite reach the ground. Suddently his world was thrown backwards, as he began falling. Oh Force guide him.
He was expecting the blow of the hard floor… but it ended up being surprisingly squishy? He looked down, only to realize he had been caught by Keytara in the wheelchair.
“That’s where I was going.” He said, through a sigh, as he tried to regain some semblance of pride.
No judgement or snarking comment came; Keytara simply gave a wink to Dominik as she wheeled Vigo towards the large double doors beside the clinic desk. She then waved her right hand upwards, and the doors opened up, allowing Vigo and her to pass through. As they pushed through, Vigo felt like they were phasing through some kind of invisible field.
“Don’t mind that sensation, it’s our antisepsis field that helps to maintain a clean and sterile environment as we bring patients in.” She replied as she wheeled him onto a large platform. Above him was some sort of large scanning machine. “Now, you sit tight a moment here, while I get your brother and have him lean back in our special relax chair. Just as you need some work, he needs some good rest with a little boost to get rid of that tiredness. From what I see, you both have been through a bit and need a little TLC.” She then locked the wheelchair in place as she went back out to Dominik, her kind eyes matching her soft, gentle voice when she spoke to the exhausted Umbaran.
“Your brother will be fine for a moment; just follow me through our double doors. I am going to set you up in this wonderfully comfortable reclining chair. From there, you will be able to see your brother, relax yourself and know exactly what we are doing if you wish.”
Vigo had nothing to say other than a slight grunt.
——- Out in the lobby, Dominik perked up from the Modern Technology magazine that made its way into his hands.
“Ah! Okay!” He said as he folded it, grabbing the blanket, and trotted off after her, feeling as if he were 12 once again.
Keytara grinned as she led Dominik through the doors and the antisepsis field to an extremely comfortable black leather reclining chair. Across from the chair was the platform where he could see Vigo, still sitting in the wheelchair.
“Now you get yourself all comfy. I am going to administer a vitamin dose to help you recover from that exhaustion a little quicker. Keep sipping that water and relax your body. As for your brother, we are gonna scan him, see to what extent that eye damage is as well as how much poison is still being neutralized within his body. After that, Doctor Weyr will be coming in to see to it that your brother gets that eye and poisoning fixed.”
Dominik made the chair a home, laying the proffered blanket down, while keeping extra to wrap himself up like a warm burrito. He felt as pampered as if he were in a spa, absolutely living for the comforts. “T-thank you – good luck!” Dominik wasn’t sure there was anything they could do for his eye.
Vigo on the other hand… Looked as sour as a cat just given a bath. He did not want to be here any longer than needed, but a deep part of him felt his heart clench as he saw his brother being… content for once.
His entire body was tingling now, as sensations started to come back. The unfortunate thing with poisons… pins and needles. He huffed a tuff of hair that has fallen out of his vision, waiting begrudgingly.
Keytara walked out of the room to the inner corridor, knocking on the office door. “Weyr, you are up, dear. I shall have the details from the image scanner sent to your datapad in a few moments.” Turning her heel, she went to the supply cabinet, grabbed a small tray, set a sterilizing pad and a vitamin shot onto it, before she returned to the scanning room and back to the reclining chair Dominic was in.
“All right, let’s get this started.” She turned her head to Vigo, pulling her nurse’s datapad.
“Please stay as still as you can while the scanner is running. This should take about a minute.”
She then touched the “on” button of the scanner on her pad before she turned to the relaxing Dominik. “Now, as for you, let’s get that vitamin shot. Which shoulder do you want me to administer it?”
A low whirring rumble started up as the scanner lowered from the ceiling down towards Vigo. After thirty seconds, it began to rotate around him, and a green light illuminated against his body as the scanner rotated completely around him, scanning through his armor.
The recent conflicts had been murder. It had taken a lot of doing, but Razraf had finally convinced Mikael and Lav'anre to put their quest for funds on hold. The old starship was standing by nearby. The Selonian mercenary was sore and some of his enhancements had been acting up. His shoulder had not been the same since a fight some years ago, and he had grown tired of babying it for several years. He was now a bit more flush with credits than normal. Sure, the cost of his health was probably going to have him eating more instant noodles for quite a bit, but he was the primary money maker for his crew.
As he stepped into the clinic, he was struck by how it felt. He glanced around his surroundings and then his eyes locked on the desk, the desk now empty of the receptionist. He sighed, and strode over.
He looked over the desk and pulled a ticket from the dispenser. He turned towards the pot of stimcaf, and fumbled over. The aches and pains were making it hard.
Hopefully the wait wouldn’t be too long.
Dominik cracked open one of his closed eyes, and pulled his arms from acting as a pillow for his head. “Oh- um. The right… right? Dominant arm works best because I move it more? Or..?” Not more than a second passed and he was moving to take off his jacket. He revealed a white button up shirt, with sleeves rolled up to his forearms. Revealing a prothetic metal arm ending at his elbow for his right hand.
— meanwhile Vigo sat there. Blankly staring at the oh so interesting back wall as this machine scanner circled around him. The staff was nice, and he supposed he could be a little nicer but his face and well everything tingled.
She chuckled a bit. “Enjoying that chair immensely I see and ah, that is a very nice prosthetic arm. How about we not inject that and instead get a place that is more the real you.” Moving to the left arm that wasn’t a prosthetic, she wiped a small area with the cleansing cloth on his shoulder, then injected the syringe.
“After a few minutes, you should feel much less tired and more yourself.”
BEEP! came the sound of the scanner finished.Keytara turned off the scanner with her datapad and sent the results over to Weyr’s datapad.
“All right, gentlemen, it is time to move you both into one of our exam rooms.”
She then moved behind Vigo, kicked up the wheel stands with her foot, and wheeled him down the platform and into the left hallway of the large image room they had been in. She stopped at Exam Room #1 and opened the door.
Inside was a small sink counter with cupboards on the left side, while across to the back was the exam table itself. Close beside the table, was a two seater couch that one could lay back on.She parked Vigo beside the exam table and put the stands back up on the wheelchair.
“All right, I am gonna need you to work with me, because you my friend need to be on the exam table. On three, we hop you up.”
Keytara carefully placed his arm around her shoulder as she steadied herself. “On three, one..two..THREE!” Swiftly, she began to lift the Umbaran up from the wheelchair and onto the exam table.
Meanwhile, in his office, the Evereni was already dressed in his typical crisp, white, sterile medical uniform. He wore an auscultator around his grey neck and already held Vigo’s lightpad of his vitals in his hand. His bluish-black hair had been secured in a tight ponytail as his lips pursed from the scanner results, but he would do what he could to fix the Umbaran. Stepping out of his office, Weyr stopped by the supplies to grab his surgery kit and a prosthetic eye kit before heading out to Vigo’s exam room.
Dominik was slightly confused, as his prosthetic only went to his elbow, but didn’t argue and moved to give better access to his left arm. He joined his brother in the exam room, helping lift him on the table.
“I got it.” Vigo said grumbling, as he gripped the edge of the wheelchair after putting the wheels in lock. His limbs felt somewhat like limbs again, with major pins and needles. Still he begrudgingly accepted help from his brother and Keytara. He sat down on the exam table, adjusting his footing as Doctor Weyr stepped into the room. Vigo’s adept in noticing small changes heard the footsteps well before he entered. His gaze locked on the doctor, and as his vision met those dark eyes, he almost felt… comforted. Almost.
The Evereni reminded him so much of Maeva. He wondered how she was fairing after the war. He’d need to check in soon on her and Barafu.
“Well Weyr, they are all yours, I am headed back to the front to see our other patient. It was nice to meet you both, I do hope that you have speedy recoveries.” She smiled and waved before leaving the exam room. Weyr glanced at both Vigo and Dominik. He observed a moment, noticing the slight uncomfortable movement of Vigo. Probably from the poison clearing his system, but yes his eye. He kept his face neutral and made sure to keep his body posture in a more open and friendly manner so as to not cause an immediate alarm within his patients.
“Hello, I am Dr. Weyr Suil, main doctor of this clinic. Keytara was kind to grab your vitals and I did get a look at Vigo. In terms of health, you showed signs of poison recovery, which I can also give you a booster that will clear that up in a matter of moments, plus probably help quicken the use of your limbs, which I am sure still feel like pins and needles. As for your eye, I do have some good news and bad news. Which would you prefer to hear first?”
Meanwhile Keytarra had stepped back into the main outer lobby, She immediately spotted Razeraf. She smiled warmly at the Selonian. “Come on up and follow me through these doors, we will be going through an anti-sepsis field, so you may feel a little like you are pushing through something, but not to worry, it is there to keep our place sterile. Once we get through, I shall have you step on our scanner here to help with diagnosing the problem.” <@267489687902486530> <@297496904282144769>
Vigo rubbed his hand down his non-injured side of his face before waving it, giving the silent message of either to the news. He was tired and quite frankly had felt like he spoke enough already.
Weyr nodded. “Very well, the bad news is there is nothing I can do to save your eyesight, the damage to the nerves, muscles, and socket itself was horrendous. You are lucky that whoever took that eye didn’t keep going. That said, your visual field, because of this, is going to be reduced to 30%, and your depth perception with objects that are within 6 to 8 feet will be affected. You may also feel a bit awkward initially when you grasp objects or pour liquids. Typically, it takes about a year for your brain and body to adjust to the monocular vision, but you will be able to adapt.
Now, onto the good news, I can at least clean and cauterize the eye socket itself to prevent any further damage and infection. Also, I brought with me a prosthetic kit for a prosthetic eye. In it, there are several choices as well as blueprints for creating a custom one, should you not like any of the colors or types. Now I can install the prosthetic eye if you wish, or not. What would you like to do?”
“Oh, um, sure why not?” Razraf had been rehearsing in his head the issues at hand. It had really been far, far too long since he had been to a doctor. “Are you sure you do not need anything like my medical history first?” Despite his apprehension, Razraf followed instructions well enough.
After all, it normally paid the bills.
“I will be getting that after we scan you first. For now, what is your name?” She smiled softly as she led him past the anti-sepsis field, through the doors and onto the scanner platform, which already finished its disinfecting program and was ready to go. “Just stand there and I will turn it on, you will hear a hum as it scans your entire body. It will take a couple minutes to complete the scan. After that, we will head into an exam room where we can discuss your medical history.”
“Razraf. Captain Razraf Ko.” He stood as still as he could while the machine did its work.
Vigo nodded silently as he absorbed the information Doctor Weyr informed him of.
He spared a glance to Dominik after the options were listed, to where the brothers both nodded in agreement.
“Perhaps a bionic eye? I’ve heard they can see on other light spectrums?”
His brother chimed in, “May I get a copy of those blueprints as well?” He was eager to see them and dissect how the eyes were mechanically made. Disassembling and reassembling over and over would be on his to do list if he didn’t get the blueprints. Either way it was like a mechanical itch that he couldn’t scratch… yet.
Weyr raised an eyebrow at Dominik as he smirked. “Ah, I see we have someone very curious about how things work and how to create. Well you are in luck as I love having patients like that.” He then reached into his pocket and pulled out a small datashard. “You will find the blueprints and schematics of a very advanced bionic eye. And yes it can see other light spectrums including ultraviolet. Now normally, most medical places and especially because this bionic eye also can be created to look just like your brother’s normal eye if he so wishes, would cost an arm and leg” He mused. “But I am not that kind of doctor, I prefer to make sure others are able to do what I can do in case I cannot be there. So my eager tinkerer, here is the datashard with that information. All I ask is that you make sure that your brother gets his eye first before trying to create more.” He then handed Dominik the datashard. “Also be very careful with that information, there are others not so kind that would see my kindness eliminated.”
Meanwhile, the scanner had finished up on Razraf and was ready to be sent. “All right Captain Razraf, let’s get you into exam room #2 and see about that patient’s history. I have all your scans ready for doctor Weyr to look over and will send them shortly. We do have a little wait as he is currently busy working with another patient at this time, but not too worry, you will be seen today and taken care of.” Keytara smiled. “Follow me please.” The Epicanthix lady then led Razraf to a room similar to the one that Vigo was taken to. Inside was a sink countertop and cupboards, the exam table, and a small couch beside it. “Make yourself comfortable and let’s get this questionnaire about your past history started.”
<@267489687902486530> <@297496904282144769>
“Don’t worry Doctor, we fully intended to pay you fully with interest. Dominik will not distribute any products made. He solely wishes to be able to make any upgrades should I request them at a later date.” Vigo’s words rolled with a heavy accent.
Dominik cupped his hands allowing the data shard to fall into his hands. His eyes alit with glee as he nodded enthusiastically.
Vigo’s gaze snapped back to Weyr, “How do we proceed?”
Weyr smiled, his sharp fangs displaying more prominently. Taking the prosthetic kit he opened it up and stuck a different datashard into it, a small holo display appeared showing several different styles, he picked one that looked exactly like vigo’s eye. Then another menu appeared, this one then displayed choices from seeing infrared, ultraviolet, standard spectrum or a combination. For display purposes, he chose: combination. After a couple minutes, a prosthetic eye materialized on the small platform of the kit. Weyr looked at it over a moment, he always was one to check for any defects, and set it down. “Now to install this. You will need this medical tool.” He handed Dominik a small metal wand of sorts. “This device will connect the remaining nerves with the prosthetic eye so in a sense will “ see” the spectrums. After I clean his eye up, you will place the prosthetic eye in, then take this metal wand, point the thinner end at his eye socket and prosthetic and click the small button on the end. This will integrate his nerves with the prosthetic so he can use it. As for reverse engineering the prosthetic itself, since I know you are curious. Here is a list of items you will need to get if you were to try and create your own prosthetic eye. Now to get the cool techy bits like ultraviolet, infrared etc. That requires a particular medical license that is for the very advanced. For that just give me a call and I can actually send you the small data chip that you insert into the prosthetic. And that said.”He grinned. “Your total for today will be only 20credits as I said at my Clinic, I do not charge much, just the basic cost for a regular check up.”
As the younger Umbaran was handed the medical instruments, his face twisted into uncertainty. “Uh– I don’t–” His eyes shot to Vigo. Vigo’s gaze was boring holes. He gave a swift, stern, albeit approving nod to his brother. Dominik could do this, he was sure of it. Dominik was one of the very few people Vigo would trust with this– apart from medical professionals.
At the mention of the price, Vigo spoke up. “No, Doctor, we know a ball park of where this trip was expected to be with the prosthetic and potential surgery. 20 credits will not do. You have a business to run, and we are business men. Charge us the full price.” His gaze squinted.
The grey skinned doctor with black eyes nodded to Dominik. “Don’t sell yourself short, I have a feeling you can do this, besides that tool is super simple, it’s just aim at his eye, press the button and wait about a minute for it to finish linking up his prosthetic eye. Easy peasy.
Very well since you are so inclined to be business men, for the exam, prosthetic kit, and diagnostic scanner that will be 8,000 Credits total. Not everyday I actually have patients willing to actually pay me.
It does pay the bills though so thank you. Oh right, I almost forgot. Let me administer that antidote boost and, before we finish up here.” He opened the cupboard and pulled down a small medicine bottle with pills, he then grabbed the antidote booster and injected it into his left shoulder. “There that will speed up the antidote’s effects and you should in a few moments be able to walk without pins and needles. As for these pills, they are a pain relief for when you get the nasty migraines as you adjust to the new prosthetic. Just take two of them a day. for when you start feeling a headache. Gave you at least three months worth. If you need any more just let me know.” He then took his cauterization tool and the anesthetic syringe. “Let’s get this eye cleaned up. First, I will give an anesthetic before I cauterize the eye socket. You should only feel some heat as the tool does its work, if there is any pain at all, let me know. You ready?“
Vigo nodded. He appreciated the doctors niceties of down charging the boys, but he felt that should be saved for others who couldn’t afford the luxuries they could. The luxuries they could afford. Vigo silently chuckled to himself, remembering their youth on the streets. How far they’d come to be able even say the words “luxury” and “afford” in the same sentence.
Weyr was right, as soon as he was injected with the booster the tingling in his fingers lightened. He nodded listening to the Doctors words,
“Thank you, Doctor.” Was this thank you for charging them full price? Or perhaps the additional pain relief meds? Perhaps both. He took a deep breath mentally preparing himself for the operation, and gave another reassuring nod to Dominik and Doctor Weyr.
Now it was time. “Please excuse me, I am going to be right in your space for a bit, so I apologize for any social uncomfortableness.”
Now stepping in front of Vigo, placing his right leg next to him, Weyr removed the bloody bandage from Vigo’s missing eye and applied the local anesthetic to the socket. He then stepped back as he waited for a few minutes for it to take effect. Soon, the area was numbed and ready to be cleaned up. Setting down the anesthetic, the Evereni picked up his cauterization tool, stepped back in close to Vigo again, using his right hand to help keep Vigo’s face still, and went to work. The doctor’s focus on the task was very intense, and he remained silent. Calculated and very skilled, Vigo watched the pitch-black eyes of Weyr, actively analyzing the eye damage himself. Soon, Vigo felt a warm sensation in his empty eye socket as Weyr quickly worked to cauterize and seal the nerves. The silence beside the sound of the tool finally broke.
“Hang in there; I am almost finished, Vigo.”
A few more minutes and the cauterization was complete, he placed the tool down and in one swift motion picked up his antisepsis bacta pen and flashed it into the empty eye socket. A greenish glow from the pen indicated to Weyr that the area was being sanitized and disinfected.
Finally, he stepped back from Vigo and smiled softly as he leaned back. “There we go, all cauterized and cleaned up. I apologize for being all up in your face there; sadly, working on the face though, requires me to work very close, but I have finished. Dominik, it is now all up to you.”
As Doctor Weyr worked, Vigo tried to remain as still as possible but uncontrollably winced slightly at the first few interactions before the numbing had taken effect.
He stayed silent throughout the operation, mainly focusing on the instruments that Weyr picked up.
“Not at all, Doctor.” Vigo said dismissing the apology before turning his attention to Dominik.
The younger brother had watched the majority of the process but had looked away during the cauterization, but was slightly at ease when Vigo made no noise.
Dominik scooted closer. All sensation in Vigo’s limbs had come back, and he gave his younger brother a pat on the shoulder and a swift nod.
Dominik picked up the materialized prosthetic eye, and held the tool. He gently lifted the eye to his socket, and maneuvered it into place using the proffered tool. He clicked the button on the wand and nothing too visual to their eyes happened. However, Vigo started to see really blurry greyscale shapes.
“Hmm. I see… shadows.” He blinked. “Is this… normal? Do you have some rewetting drops?” He blinked again, the shapes of their silhouettes became clearer.
The Selonian lowered himself onto the couch, feeling it creak slightly beneath him. “I mean, I haven’t been to a doctor in years. I guess I am not sure where you want me to start.”
“You are doing well, that should be your eye currently calibrating with the new prosthetic.”
He moved to the counter across the room and grabbed the eye drops.
“So far it sounds like it’s working properly, just give it a couple minutes to finish. The sight will become less blurry momentarily. Let me get these drops in, and I will let you keep them, cause lubrication is needed to help keep that socket from drying up. Just bring your head back a moment and I will get them in.”
Vigo tilted his head up, allowing Weyr to place a couple drops in. The Evereni closed the lid and placed the meds and the eyedrops into a small bag before handing it to Dominik.
“That should help. Couple more minutes and it should focus completely.”
He smiled at Dominik.
“You did great! Placement and download according to my pad here is complete.” He replied.
“So as soon as he gets the focus finished we will be done and you both can head home. I highly suggest resting that eye for at least a few hours to make sure that my cleanup stays solid and that it gives the eye time to adapt.“
He turned again and grabbed a black eyepatch from the supply drawer on the side of the table and handed it to Vigo.
“Remember pain pills twice a day for headaches, drops place in the eye twice every day. One in morning and one in the evening. That said…” He smiled softly. “How do you feel now,Vigo?”
Back at the scanning platform Keytara grinned at Razref. “Well let’s see here. You are a Selonian, so do you have any history with tail pain, or parents with very short tails? Usually indicates a genetic illness of sorts. Thankfully most cases it’s not common.”
She asked Razref as the scanner had almost finished up.”
<@267489687902486530> <@297496904282144769>
“Isn’t tail pain a normal thing for most Selonians? I mean, my da didn’t have too short a tail. I am in a rough and tumble profession. I very seriously doubt you have had to flip a patient over a table to proceed to pummel them with your fists, have you?” The Captain shook his head. “It seems a bit of a stretch to assume a genetic factor, isn’t it?”
Keytara’s eyes seem to shine. “You never know sometimes. I was just taking in history just asking if that was in your family. And as for the previous. She smiled.
"I have plenty of patient stories I could tell you, but that Razref is patient confidentiality. So scanner is finished analyzing so let’s head over to exam room #2 just past one over here."She replied motioning for the Selonian captain to follow her.
The machine scanner had lifted and he was free to move.
Vigo sat allowing the eye to adjust and the rewetting drops to take effect.
Slowly the shapes in front of him became clearer, as he began to make out finer details. He blinked a bit more than usual during the adjustment. It was.. odd. New. He definitely would need to take some time to adjust.
“Vision is clear.” He gently grasped the eye patch with his prosthetic metal arm. Sitting for another moment longer absorbing the world around him with his new vision. His head did seem to have a slight tinge of pain coming on, before he secured the eyepatch over his head.
“Thank you, Doctor.” The younger brother stood, shifting the small bag to his left hand, extending his right metal prosthetic hand. Vigo also stood carefully— now in proper control of his limbs, and also offered his right prosthetic hand in gratitude.
“I will let you know if any issues occur.” Vigo said, a twitch flickered in his jaw. He didn’t like medical attention, and definitely didn’t like needing to follow up unless absolutely necessary.
“Fair enough.” Razraf grumbled. He had not been to a doctor in years. He was still not entirely sure what to expect.
If he was honest, it made him feel really unwell in a way that he could not pin down.
But this place felt nice enough. He walked towards the indicated exam room.
He shook Dominik’s hand, his voice warm, rich with a low pitch as he winked to the Umbaran. “Congrats, you have successfully done a synthetic eye transplant. Just keep an eye on it and have fun tinkering with your kit.” He let go and then shook Vigo’s pale hand, however his grip seemed a little bit tighter than he thought. Looking into the Evereni’s dark abyssal eyes, they seemed gentle and caring, but they also did have a look of concern and seriousness in them.
“If any issues occur, let me know immediately Vigo. We don’t need malfunctions or the synthetic eye to shut down. Also, I will need to perform a follow up appointment with you after three months. This means you will need to call me later for that appointment.” He then smiled whimsically as he let go of the man’s hand and placed his calling card into it.
“Thank you both for stopping by, you are free to leave, but take it easy, no rush whenever you are ready.” He then turned and went out the door back to his office.
Meanwhile at Exam Room #2:
“All right dear, have a seat and we will get started. So tell me, why have you come to us today? Perhaps we can give you some treatment. ” The Epicanthix replied sweetly as she readied to take down notes.
<@267489687902486530>
“My shoulder has not been the same in….ages. I have also been having chronic pain in my back, my neck, and….my tail. I recently got back from the campaign in the Cor-whatever system where the Brotherhood kicked in the teeth of those Collective rats and-” his eyes widened a bit as he spoke, with his words trailing off. He shook his head, seeming to come back to the present. “I have been having these awful nightmares. I cannot sleep. I hardly eat. Hell, I have lost a couple kilos from that alone. I just….there are images I cannot shake.” His eyes took on a distant look and he peered off into the middle distance.
“I do not know how much longer I can continue on like this. War is hell. Hunting bounties, that is just business as usual. But this-” his voice trailed off again.
“Ooh…Well I already sent Weyr the results of your scan, he should be able to figure out these aches and pains as to your other issue, You my dear what is called PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, unfortunately it is a common side effect in War upon seeing horrific things. Not to worry, there is some medication we have that can help with some of the overwhelming emotions and anxiety you are probably feeling as well as something to help against the nightmares.
