“Haro, are you all set?” Ikarri asked as he looked at the young Mandalorian holding the ridiculously oversized ornamental torch.
“All set, sir,” Haro said, forcing himself to stand at attention while holding the artifact. The young man’s determination to do everything correctly had meant he insisted on personally holding the torch throughout their journey.
Ikarri nodded and refrained from clapping the human on the shoulder, the temptation to push him off balance nearly overwhelming. The two men stood in the mess hall of the transport vessel, traveling at warp to transport the artifact to Eos City—something that Ikarri still didn’t understand, as the Brotherhood had abandoned Eos prior to the Exodus. But a paying contract was a paying contract.
Ikarri moved to take a seat at one of the small tables nearby, turning to face the door as it opened. The now somewhat more familiar forms of Arcia Cortel and Rulvak Qurroc made their way into what equated to a small break room.
Cortel leaned into her cane, shifting her weight off her right leg. She glanced between the men before her and sighed heavily when her gaze fell upon the large torch in Haro’s hands. Cortel slid heavily into a seat across from Ikarri and narrowed her green eyes.
“What exactly are we supposed to do with this?” she asked, nodding towards Haro and the torch before blowing a few blonde strands of hair away from her eyes.. “And we are supposed to take it where, exactly? A place the Brotherhood has forgotten for over a decade?”
Arcia’s annoyance was palpable, lingering in the air as she simply glared at the others in the room. She disliked nonsensical tasks and this ranked high on her list of things best left to subordinates…
Rulvak followed into the room, the door hissing closed behind him. He made his way over to an adjacent booth and leaned up against it, slightly resting himself on the edge of the table. This mission, what seemed a tedious task, was given to them by their Consul. Deliver the artifact. How is this a good use of my time? Rulvak could not get this thought out of his head, but the pay was good enough to help him further his other goals. He looked back up as Arcia finished her question.
“A place of great importance, or at least that’s how they’re trying to sell it. It would have been nice for them to have given us a little more intel on it. Do you think we’ll run into any–"
Rulvak stopped mid-sentence and he braced himself just before the ship lurched forward, unofficially announcing to the group that they had exited hyperspace. The sounds of the hyperdrive whirring down and the trembles of the ship only confirmed this to be the case. A voice came over the Public Announcement system.
"We have arrived. Please prepare to enter the atmosphere of Eos.”
“It would have been nice if they had given us warning before exiting warp,” the Sephi muttered under his breath. “Well, I suppose we’ll soon find out why that thing had to be brought here.”
