Somewhere in the Ussunian Rainforest Selen 42 ABY
Bril Teg Arga overlooked the ongoing excavation with his arms folded across the acid-etched breastplate of his new armor. A Selenian-led team of archaeologists carefully worked on unearthing the ruins found deep within the vast tropical rainforests of Ussun, Selen’s largest continent. As much as he would have liked to jump in and get his hands dirty or even to call his parents and tell them about the discovery of an ancient Selenian site, his duties to Arcona and the Brotherhood demanded his undivided attention. He turned to face the rest of his team, a small contingent of the Dajorran Marshals team.
“Alright, team,” he began, his voice distorted by the voice modulator present within his mask, “we’re tasked with transporting the artifact to Eos City on Arx so it can be studied in a secure environment. It’s a Sith artifact of some kind, likely connected to the very Sith who we defeated just a few weeks ago.
“Normally, I’d advocate placing any items found on a dig in the hands of the people who share cultural connections to it but given what this item is and the circumstances, my superiors and I have agreed that it’s better left in the custody of the Brotherhood.”
It didn’t take the Force to know that they, like him, were still vexed by anything to do with the Sith who fancied themselves gods. He could see it on their faces. He maintained an air of circumspection while awaiting their response, looking over each of them through a mask whose eye slits sported a lambent yellow glow.

Ellisyn Kendis pulled at the skin-tight fabric of her body glove, her discomfort almost palpable. She had been told she would be assisting Bril Teg Arga and some other Marshals in transporting the artifact from Selen to a more secure location, which the Firrerreo had no problems doing. She could use a break from the mundane paperwork waiting for her at her office. What the Mandalorian hadn’t been told was how long they’d be standing around waiting to retrieve the damn thing.
The humidity found in the Selenian rainforest was tortuous. Elly looked at Bril clad in his newly acquired armor and couldn’t help but cringe. How he could endure standing around in heavier armor than she found herself in was beyond her. The tallest of the four held her helmet under her arm while sweat coated her brow.
“Do you think we’ll be waiting around much longer?” The lawyer asked, eyeing the Zabrak’s glowing optics.
“Sure hope not.” Vreva slapped at an insect that had landed on her arm with intent to bite. The bug flew off and Vreva’s nose wrinkled in annoyance as her yellow gaze shifted from her quarry to their leader. Her hips shifted to the side as she crossed her arms over her chest. “When I heard we were doing escort, I assumed it was already on board the ship. No need for all of us to sit around watching them dig. Almost makes me want to pick up a shovel.”
Although the crimson Zabrak complained, it was her own choice to be there. She had even requested that her leave be shortened, despite her injuries in the battle against the ancient Sith. Though she would have preferred nothing more to do with the so-called Gods’, she had to see it all done and gone. And despite the encroaching itch at the back of her mind drawing her towards the dig site, Arx was welcome to that Sith artifact as far as she was concerned.
The humid climate of Selena’s rainforest was no bother to Emere Galo. The tropical climate of Illoh prepared her for hot and muggy weather.
After dealing with the so-called gods, she was gifted a three-day coma. Even after waking up and being deemed healthy by medical staff, she still felt off. Her senses felt dulled and her reflexes were slower than she liked. Surely it would pass. She hoped. Today’s mission would determine if more time was needed.
The light armor-clad Human scanned the trees around the small group through her helmet. She looked over her shoulder at the archaeologists who were diligently working, sharing the same sentiment as the rest of the group. With nothing to add to their conversation, she stood guard with her slugthrower brandished.
